One
evening years ago while I was walking home from the university I
noticed that a young cat was following me. She spent several days
sitting in front of my house until I finally let her in. Although
I put an ad in the local paper, being sure that someone was missing
her, nobody ever answered. I liked her very much and admired the
thick tufts of fur between her toes. |

| She
was a very sweet and loving cat, so we adopted each other. I didn’t
know very much about cat breeds at that time, but I always thought
that Tiffany looked very special. I discovered years later that she
was a black mackerel tabby Maine Coon Cat. From then on I had a great
love for this breed of cat. |

| Many,
many years later I was having problems with my back and the doctor
told me that I would have to lie in bed for several weeks. I had the
feeling that the only way I could have enough patience for that was
to have a purring cat next to me. I remembered Tiffany and bought
a newspaper sure enough, there was an ad for Maine Coons. My daughter
and I drove to the cattery that evening and came home with a pretty
ten month old female.. |

Our “Zillie” was never meant to be show cat because she
had a kink in her tail, but she got us thinking about getting more
involved in breeding. The next summer, when we were in America, we
visited various Maine Coon catteries in the area. We were very lucky
when we visited Joan Nock of Canongate Cattery near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
The
day before we arrived someone had cancelled their reservation to
buy a beautiful black smoke male kitten.

| Prince
Black Shadow made a long and strenuous journey across the ocean with
us and became the foundation stone of our cattery. In the meantime
a number of other cats have moved in with us. You can get to know
them on this homepage. We all live together in big sunny house in
southern Germany. Stop by if you are in the area, we always enjoy
visitors.
